Manly Manado has partnered with three non government organisations on behalf of the Manly-Manado Community Partnership, all of which have programs helping people out of poverty in Manado.
These programs are all run by local Manadonese people and focus on alleviating poverty through holistic development, empowering people to help themselves, economically, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
This in turn breaks their cycle of poverty, leading to sustained ongoing community development and a long-term cycle of community social transformation.
Bridge of Hope
Bridge of Hope is a local Manado based micro-enterprise development organisation, that was originally founded by residents of Manly. It is locally known as 'Yayasan JHB'.
Bridge of Hope's micro-enterpirise program gives poor and struggling families the chance to lift themselves out of poverty and regain their dignity through the provision of micro loans and a holistic development program. By helping adults to start or grow small local businesses and employ their own neighbours in creative and accountable enterprise, the standards of local family living are lifted above the poverty line, one family at a time.
Bridge of Hope also helps groups of people through the occasional loan of a capital item, providing an opportunity for a group of families to start a new trade and business. A recent example of this is a fishing boat and set of nets that was built and then loaned to five refugee families.
